Crew: Germantown Academy Places Five Boats in PSRA City Championships

PHILADELPHIA -- The schedule for Germantown Academy's crew team is dwindling, but the performances put on by the Patriots are as strong as they have been all season, as evidenced by their marks at Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association City Championships on May 4 and 5. GA had nine boats competing on the first day of time trials, with six advancing to a semifinal or final.

Jayden Johnson '26 opened the day at 10:33 on Saturday in the Boys Gig/Novice 1x. Johnson finished the semifinal with a time of 7:06.890 to advance to Finals, where he rowed 7:01.640 to finish sixth in the City. 

The Patriots had two entries in the Girls Novice 4x, with Nina Sager '26, Mirabelle Hayes '26, Alex Brown '27, and Clara Shafer '26th in one boat and Emma Podulka '27, Maggie Salerno '26, Maya Salerno '27, and Sophia Song '27 in another. The former boat finished first in the semifinal in 5:50.980, while the latter finished fifth in 6:17.020. In the Final, the boats finished 4-5, going 6:09.950 and 6:11.400.

Charlotte Baughman '25 and Roma Reddy '25 took sixth place in the Final of the Girls JV 2x in 6:26.210. The group finished eighth in time trials at 6:17.600 to advance to the semifinals, where they rowed 6:20.540.

The Boys JV 4x of Andrew Wells '25, Maloy Lafferty '25, Jack Wescott '25, and Utsav Mittal '25 finished sixth in their race on Saturday to advance to a semifinal, where they placed third to advance to a final. In that race, the group finished sixth, rowing 5:22.140. 

Max Rinnander '25 went 6:10.080 to finish 10th in the Boys JV 1x time trials. He advanced to the semifinals, where he finished fourth in 6:17.330. 

The Patriots return to action on May 17 and 18 for Stotesbury Cup Regatta.
